Wangaratta Bearings & Industrial Supplies was founded by husband and wife, Ian and Jan McMonigle in 1979. It quickly become a leading provider of industrial, agricultural and automotive supplies to customers throughout Northern Victoria and Southern NSW. Ian's extensive experience in the bearing trade, starting in 1962 with a company called Bulluss & Tippett, which gave him a deep understanding of the local industry's requirements, where he built strong relationships with customers.
Opening our doors
After leaving Bulluss & Tippett in 1975, Ian joined Bearing Service Co as a sales representative, covering northeast Victoria and southern New South Wales. This experience highlighted the need for a local business in the area, leading Ian and Jan to open Wangaratta Bearings at 17 Baker St in February 1979.
As it grew, in 1984 the business relocated to 48 Faithfull Street to accommodate further growth, and in 2001, Chris McInnes, Ian and Jan's son-in-law, became the manager. Chris brought his experience as a former manager at Repco Auto Parts, which helped expand the business to offer a wide range of products.
Next generation
With daughters Jodie Edwards and Donna McInnes assisting Jan in the accounts department, the business has been able to maintain a high level of service. Wangaratta Bearings now operates from its current location at 75 Tone Road, Wangaratta, with a spacious showroom constantly filled with new products.
Ian and Jan remain the directors of the company and along with their dedicated team are committed to providing quality products to their valued customers, at a competitive price.
